WORLD VETERINARY DAY 2010 CELEBRATED IN PUNJAB by VET'S CLUB LUDHIANA (Regd)
VETS CLUB LUDHIANA (Regd), IS THE ONLY CLUB IN Punjab which is for VETS. This year Vets Club Ludhiana celebrated World Veterinary Day 2010 ,as a state level function on 14th May 2010 in the premises of Vets Club situated on Ferozepore Road Ludhiana due to sincere efforts of Dr P N Barman.
According to Dr.Paramjeet Singh Deputy Director, Punjab Veterinary Vaccine Institute Ludhiana, the day was divided in two sessions.
Morning Session --
Veterinary Camp ----- This session comprised of VACCINATION, DE WORMING and DE TICKING CAMP for Dogs. Dr.Darsha Singh Registrar Punjab State Veterinary Council, Chandigarh was the chief guest . He inaugurated the camp by cutting a red ribbon. Pet owners from Ludhiana city, Mulanpur town, Barewal and Sunet villages started coming with their dogs from early morning before start of the camp. Dr.Paramjeet Singh, Dr.Sunil Dutt, Dr.Darshan Dass and Dr Parminder Kaur did their job of vaccination and De worming very efficiently. Dog food was given to all dogs as complement.
Painting Competition of school children ------ To celebrate World Veterinary Day the Vets Club a Painting competition of school students was held in club premises. Students were divided in THREE Age Groups. 6-9 years, 10-14 years and 15-19 years. Sixty two students of different schools of Ludhiana city participated in this competition. Main theme of this competition was " One World One Health". Prizes were sponsored by different pharma and corporate concerns. Hero cycle group and Katari Pharma sponsored prizes. First prize as Bicycle , second prize as school bag for students of all the three groups . Certificates were given to all the participating students. Nourishing breakfast and refreshments were given to all students and guests. Inflatable bouncy games were also their for small kids for enjoyment.
Evening Session ---
S.Gulzar Singh Ranike, Cabinet Minister Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Punjab Government, was the chief guest in this evening session. Dr.H.S.Sandha, Director Animal Husbandry Punjab, Mr. Dhillon, Dr R M Bhardwaj,President Vets Club; and all office bearers and members of club were present in this session.
Technical Session --
Technical Session targeted the theme of this year World Veterinary Day i.e. One World One Health. Medical Human Public Health and Veterinary Public Health were combined in this technical session. Dr Sarit Sharma from Dyanand Medical College ( DMC) Ludhiana, gave his presentation on MILK HYGIENE and Dr J P S Gill from College of Veterinary Science Ludhiana presented his lecture on Milk Hygiene & Quality control. Their presentations were very informative.
Release of WEBSITE VETS CLUB --- Secretary of club Dr. Paramdeep Singh Walia got released the newly built website of Vets Club Ludhiana with the hands of Minister Animal Husbandry Punjab, S. Gulzar Singh Ranike. Dr Parampal Singh PA to minister was also present on this occasion.
Dr H S Sandha Director Animal Husbandry Punjab congratulated the club members for celebrating this day in a special way.
Minister Animal Husbandry Punjab announced a grant of Rs. One Lac for the club from his discretionary quota.
Dr Aditya Sewak Secretary General told that now this club which came into existence in 1977 with the sincere efforts, has more than 100 Life members.
It is to be mentioned here that VETS CLUB Ludhiana celebrates World Veterinary Every year. Seminars on Rabies, Brucellosis, Tuberculosis and other Zoonotic disease were held in previous years by the club members.
