World Veterinary Day in Nepal

The Nepal Veterinary Association (NVA) celebrated world veterinary day in the global theme “One World, One Health: More cooperation between veterinarians & physicians”.

The following programs were organized by Nepal Veterinary Association this year to celebrate this global function.
1. Media Campaign as preparatory works.
2. Blood Donation camp
3. 9th National Conference of National Veterinary Association
4. Procession rally

NVA disseminated notice on World Veterinary Day and its associated programs to the general public and its members through different print media. Advertisement notices were circulated through different national and regional broadsheet. Moreover, other means of communication like Web sms, text sms, radio talk, banners were also used as means of circulation of the message.

On the eve (April 18, 2010) of World Veterinary Day, Nepal Veterinary Association organized a blood donation camp. Fifty four people donated blood in the campaign. Nepal Red Cross Society provided its technical crew to help the donation program. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Adarsha Pradhan, president of the association. National print and electronic medias covered the event.

To commemorate the world veterinary day, NVA decided to organize national conference (April 22-24) during world veterinary week with the theme “Veterinarians for Food Security, Public Health and Animal Welfare”. The main objective of the association was to gather country Vets in one place (that happened to be Kathmandu, capital of Nepal as venue for the conference).
