The Course of Veterinary Medicine Federal University of Parana was established on April 14, 1931 and became operational on 17 April of that year. Acknowledged Decree 8.436/41, published in D.O.U. on December 27, 1941.
The objective of the course of Veterinary Medicine is to train professionals trained to work in the fields of clinical medicine and surgery of domestic and wild animals, and animal production, inspection and technology of animal products, public health, preservation of environment, among others. As a complement to the lectures Students receive practical lessons in the veterinary hospital, in experimental stations and the various laboratories of the Division of Agricultural Sciences in zoos, farms and cooperatives in the farm of public or private property.
The practice areas of medical veterinarian are very varied. Beyond to act as a professional person, practicing clinical and surgery animals, the veterinarian may working in SOEs or private (stage), developing oversight activities aiming at the preservation of public health and animal production, nutrition and animal breeding, environmental preservation, the planning, management and rural economy, rural extension and research both in health and in animal husbandry and food technology. Employers veterinarian's are veterinary hospitals and clinics, zoos and parks, as well as laboratories of drugs and vaccines, public enterprises and private technical assistance and research cooperative product animals and private farms.
