OBJECTIVES In the light of the economic reality of Mato Grosso do Sul, which has shown great expansion of the agricultural area and the visible increase in population progressing into uninhabited areas, there is the need and importance in the formation of professionals trained to work on this interface coverage between progress and the emergence of new enfemidades, ensuring food quality with broad responsibility in public health.
The interdisciplinary areas of health led to the importance of veterinary medicine within the context of the epidemiology of diseases emerging and reemerging diseases in the country training of skilled professionals in the broader context of quality of animal health and slow down our population only goal of the community in the area of health.
Considering the importance of training in the socio - economic and political development of the country as a citizen committed to the interests and the ongoing and new challenges stemming from the company, the courses of Veterinary Medicine should recognize it as imperative to train a professional with generalist profile, humanist, critical, reflective and developing your responsibility to regional vocations, with the preservation of ecosystems, so that the development of agriculture takes place in prioritizing the basics of life without compromising the future of man and humanity. It is also worth noting the high and undeniable commitment of Veterinary Medicine in relation to activities in the profession, within their specific fields of expertise in animal health and veterinary clinic, environmental sanitation and preventive veterinary medicine, public health inspection and technology products of animal husbandry, animal breeding and production and protecting the environment.
The Veterinary Medicine to establish ethics as the basis of their action the development of attitudes technical and social responsibility, emphasizing the following principles:
- Advocate for excellence in quality of living and better conditions of communities, as well as the production, health and welfare;
- Adaptation, use of biotechnology and recommendation respecting the social and cultural needs of the various geographic regions - the country's economic;
- To protect the ecological balance and sustainable development of livestock;
- Promote the recovery of veterinary medicine as a science and responsibility of all involved with the livestock - the creation, production, maintenance and protection of animals;
- Encourage understanding of ecological and environmental issues, promote the sustainable development and environmental preservation and animal life, assessing the environmental impacts of projects to create and / or commercial / industrial scale.
The course of Veterinary Medicine has a legal basis, the Law No. 9394/96 - LAW GUIDELINES AND FOUNDATIONS OF EDUCATION, promoting decentralization and autonomy for schools and universities, in addition to establishing a regular process of evaluation of teaching, OPINION CNE / CES n º 0105/2002 of 13/03/2002, which approved the National Curriculum Guidelines for the Undergraduate Course in Veterinary Medicine, and Law no. 5517/68 and its Regulatory Decree no. 64704/69, who shall establish and regulate the professional practice of the veterinarian.
