Veterinary Medicine is a science dedicated to the prevention, control, eradication and treatment of diseases, injuries or other harm to health of animals.
Veterinary Medicine also seeks to ensure the quality, quantity and security of stocks of food of animal origin, by controlling the health of animals and processes to get their products and their distribution, sale and preparation.
By understanding the science of the origin and spread of various diseases and vectors as domestic or wild animals as well as to ensure their physical safety of animals, veterinary medicine has become an important adjunct in public health policies of countries.
Since the beginning of the course the student will have contact with working life, both using the institution's laboratories and the laboratories of the partner institutions, developing projects or even following the day-to-day these institutions.
A veterinarian is a trained professional to solve problems of animal and public health, develop livestock production and to participate effectively, with competence and professional attitude, the social context. The areas of expertise of the veterinarian are:
1. Prevention, control and eradication of diseases animal health and zoonoses;
2. Treatment of diseases and injuries that affect animals;
3. Control of animal products and by-products of animal origin for human consumption.
