Among the careers known, the veterinarian is the one that has a higher degree of versatility of professional performance. Traditionally inserted between the Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Medicine is currently considered, more broadly, as a branch of biological sciences who studies the domestic and wild animals, covering various important aspects such as animal health, animal production, social and health public toward the human population.
The objective of the course of Veterinary Medicine is to train a professional generalist with solid training in science and technology within society as a transforming agent of reality, with the critical and entrepreneurship, conscious of its responsibility as professionals and citizens, and contribute to the social and economic development of the state and country. Moreover, the pedagogical project of the course tries to make the individual, to allow greater flexibility and choice of subjects and content to which you want to undertake. Despite not having as axis the early training of specialists, the design allows the flourishing of individual tendencies and further studies in areas of greater personal and career interests.
The newcomer Travel Veterinary Medicine must have sound knowledge of biology, both in its traditional areas such as in modern cellular and molecular concepts for the Biotechnology. Still, it is important to master the tools of the globalized world of agribusiness and the dizzying evolution of knowledge, especially the foreign language and computer science. Above all, required of future professional who constantly seek knowledge, without being trained for the market, but be prepared for their constant demand for updates.
Among the tasks of the Veterinarian, are related to preventive and curative animal inspection and monitoring of the food of animal origin from the point of view of health, hygiene and technology, the technical supervision of companies that manufacture medicines and supplies animals, in addition to research, planning, technical supervision, promotion, guidance and the work of any nature relating to animal production.
The Veterinary Medicine can be exercised in public or private. Governments Municipal, State and Federal employ professionals in strategic areas, especially in the inspection of animal products and teams of public health and epidemiological surveillance. Job opportunities in the private sector has expanded and diversified in recent years, following the development of agribusiness in the Midwest. It is also important to consider the entrepreneurial character of the profession, allowing the professional to be the master of his own business, such as veterinary clinics, companies that manufacture and sell them feed and technical advice, among others.
