The American University of Antigua formed a new college for the study of veterinary medicine at its University Park campus on the Island of Antigua, West Indies. The AUA signed an agreement with Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine that will provide unique transfer opportunities for qualified AUA veterinary students to graduate with a DVM degree from one of the best veterinary colleges in the United States.

AUA’s mission is to provide the best veterinary education available, helping you achieve your goal of becoming a highly skilled and licensed veterinarian in the U.S. Our unique relationship with Virginia-tech is the only one of its kind. AUA graduates will become essential members of the health care community, gaining expertise in food safety and prevention of zoonotic diseases

The College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) in Antigua was founded in 2009 and accepted its first class in January 2010. Presently the college curriculum consists of five semesters of preclinical study. Qualified students have the opportunity to transfer into an AVMA or RCVS accredited veterinary college in the U.S. or internationally after completing 3 to 5 semesters of study in Antigua. The faculty at AUA is comprised of outstanding, experienced educators, all of whom have D.V.M. or Ph.D. degrees in their respective fields.

The primary mission of our faculty is to educate our students and help them succeed in the demanding environment of a medical school and subsequently in the medical community. Our high teacher to student ratio allows our faculty to be available for one-on-one mentoring and to provide guidance for the students. Many of our faculty members are accomplished researchers and notable scientists in their field. They publish articles, textbooks, and have presented their findings at US and international medical conferences.
