Faculty was founded in 1975. Annually full-time and correspondence training enlisted about 200 students. Education are 78 teachers, including 7 professors, doctors, and 48 associate professors, honored scientist of Russia, laureate of State Prize, Honored Worker of Agriculture.

Education of students is conducted in accordance with existing state educational standards. In the educational process involved a university veterinary medical and diagnostic center, laboratory of biotechnology. As a basis of student practical uses advanced agricultural enterprises in the region. The division has business relationships with academic and research institutions in many countries of the CIS, USA, UK, Germany and Holland. Every year, young scientists and students also receive practical training in the countries of the European Union.

The Innovation Research Center (initia) was created in 2007 to address critical issues of agricultural science and production, as well as improving the quality of education students.

The Research Center combines 5 laboratories, which are designed to solve the problems of biochemistry and physiology, poultry breeding, genetics and breeding, zoogigieny and sanitary-veterinary control. Laboratories are equipped with the latest equipment in their field, have no analogues in the central Russia.
