Faculty - one of the oldest in college. It is organized with the founding of the Kostroma Agricultural Institute in 1949. In 1992, the Faculty opened the specialty of Veterinary Medicine.
The faculty trains students in two specialties:
110401 - zootechnics "qualification zoo. Specializations: "Genetics and breeding animals" and "technology of primary processing of milk"
111201 - Veterinary qualification veterinarian. Specializations: "Veterinary-sanitary examination" and "Diseases of the small domestic and exotic animals."
Since 2005, the faculty trains students with special secondary education with a degree in Veterinary Medicine "with a reduced period of training (4.5 years).
Distance learning on the specialty "Zootechny" - Genetics and breeding of livestock (5.7 years).
Annual admission of students, the faculty is 100 people.
Educational process and research provide the following departments:
- Department of Anatomy and Physiology of Animals
- Department of Internal non-communicable diseases, surgery and obstetrics
- Department of Inorganic and Biological Chemistry
- Department of Farm Animal Breeding and Genetics
- Department of private breeding
- Department epizootology, Microbiology and Virology
- Department of Physical Education and Sport.
Department is headed by leading scientists, doctors and candidates of science, the authors of monographs and textbooks.
The Faculty employs 60 teachers, including 12 doctors, 35 candidates, more than 50% - graduates.

The faculty created a unique academic and scientific museums: zoological, anatomical, anatomopathological, embryological, kraneologichesky, paleontological, parasitological, microbiological, veterinary drugs, veterinary and sanitary examination.
Each year the various international educational programs of teachers and students do internships and study abroad (Austria, Britain, Germany, USA, France).
Boys have the opportunity to continue their education in the world's single of the Military Veterinary Institute (Moscow).

During operation of the Faculty has trained more than 4000 scientists and livestock experts zooinzhinerov, 500 veterinary doctors.
