The Veterinary Faculty was organized in the autumn of 1934. The current name of the faculty was received in 1996
The Faculty trains specialists in specialty 111201 - "Veterinary Medicine" with specializations
111201.1 - "Diseases of Animals
111201.2 - "Veterinary-sanitary examination of products of animal and vegetable origin"
111201.3 - "Veterinary Pharmacy"
111201.4 - "Diseases of the small domestic and exotic animals."
On 01.02.2009 at the Faculty enrolled 569 students and 131 full-time - correspondence departments.
Every year students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine participated in the national competition of students' scientific works among the universities of Belarus, which took prizes in the sections of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. In 2007, the team of students of the faculty (students 4 and 5 courses) participated in the contest "Best in Profession" Veterinary medicine "among universities of the Volga Federal District, which won prizes in various categories.
Currently faculty has highly qualified faculty. The four departments of the faculty work 14 professors, doctors, including one honorary academician of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus, two Honored Scientists of Belarus, academician of the Academy, three of Veterinary Medicine of Russia, 33 - associate professors, senior lecturers, and 2 assistants.
Scientists at the Faculty of scientific bases for prevention and elimination of major zooantroponozov providing rehabilitation disadvantaged areas of the republic (AS Sagitova, GZ Khaziev) revealed non-specific factors in the regulation of active mechanisms for the protection of animals (EP Dementiev) scheme developed use of immunomodulators and the use of acupuncture, increase the body's defenses animals (A. Andreev), etc.
The faculty is up and running in full of Consulting and Diagnostic Center of Veterinary Medicine.
The teachers of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for the past 10 years, published more than 1,350 publications, including 52 monographs, 57 textbooks and teaching aids, received 4 patents.
The most significant publications: Pathomorphology of diseases of the genitourinary system (AV Zharov, EN Skovorodin, W. G. Kadyrov), "Pathologic anatomy of farm animals" (William H. Kadyrov, EN Skovorodin), "Guide to laboratory studies on pathological anatomy.
During the years of his active work department has trained about 6 thousand highly qualified specialists.
The faculty are 4 departments:
- anatomy, pathologic anatomy, obstetrics and surgery;
- Internal non-communicable diseases, clinical diagnostics and pharmacology;
- Parasitology, Microbiology, epizootology, zoogigieny and veterinary - health examination;
- Department of Foreign Languages.
