Saratov State Agrarian University named after N.I.Vavilov is situated in one of the biggest scientific and cultural centers of Russia. Saratov was founded about four hundred years ago on the river Volga, the greatest river in Europe, 900 km to the south-east from Moscow.

By the decision of Russian Government (1997) Saratov State Agrarian University named after N.I. Vavilov was formed by the integration of the three High agrarian schools: Agroengineering Institute, Academy of Agriculture and Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology.

The University consists of 16 faculties. There are 91 departments at the university which accomplish the training of specialists of 36 specialties, 6 baccalaureates and 59 specializations.

More than 19 thousand students are trained by 1200 teachers, which are the best representatives of science. There are more than 150 doctors of sciences, professors and more than 650 candidates of sciences, senior lecturers among them.

The academic year includes two semesters - from September to January and from February to June. The students, successfully graduated from the University and showed the ability to research work, can be recommended to study at the post-graduate courses (for 3 years).

The University has a library with one and a half million fund, gyms, camping situated on the picturesque banks of the Volga, and a hostel. Students can have their practical training on the experimental enterprises which are well equipped with modern engineering and introduce advanced technologies and effective forms of organization of work process.
