The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Justus-Liebig-University Giessen consists of 9 institutes and a clinic dealing in the context of their teaching assignment with the training of students in the study veterinary medicine.

Each year included about 210 students, of whom about 90% complete within the normal period of the course. The total number of students enrolled in the study veterinary medicine is about 1580 (basic and doctoral studies). Based on the number of students is thus the third largest of the five veterinary educational institutions in Germany.
