 To illustrate the recent knowledge on Canine Leishmaniasis in their major features and besides link to epidemiology\, involvement of several organs and apparatuses\, ethiological diagnosis\, possible co-infections from other vector borne diseases\, specific therapy and probable side effects\, and prevention including vaccination. The structure of the main speeches has the aim to the continuing education of the practitioner. The opportunity to present short communications contributes both to supply and expand some important particular aspects that accomplish to characterize this complex disease. The company speeches illustrate on the other hand the efforts to supply products or services against Leishmaniasis next to the practitioner.</p>

SUMMARY:24th NKVet Symposium 2010\, Copenhagen
DESCRIPTION:<p><b>Databases in Veterinary Medicine – Validation\, harmonisation and application</b><br />
 <a href=\\"https\://www.ddd.dk/nkvet2010/Sider/about.aspx\\"><img src=\\"/docs/NKVetLogo.png\\" align=\\"left\\" /></a>The objective with the Symposium is to provide an overview of the most important databases on animal diseases in the Nordic countries. Plenary sessions will focus on the possibility of using the databases for different purposes such as animal welfare\, food safety and animal health economics. Especially\, there will be focus on how we\, in the future\, can make databases more transparent\, by establishing database protocols to share among users of the databases. In addition\, the possibilities of harmonisation of databases will be presented. Finally workshops will provide the opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practices on some of the issues.</p>

 <p>Co-sponsored by the society for veterinary medicine and literature.</p>
 <p>A two day symposium on veterinary medicine and the literary arts to examine the role of poetry\, fiction and essays in veterinary medicine and to explore how literature enriches relationships among veterinarians\, their clients and nonhuman animals. The event will bring together writers\, veterinarians\, veterinary students and scholars in diverse disciplines to explore common themes in veterinary medicine and literature.</p>
 <p>Confirmed featured speakers include the internationally known poets Mark Doty and Molly Peacock.</p>
 <p>Mark Doty's Fire to Fire\: New and Selected Poems won the National Book Award for Poetry in 2008 and his Dog Years was a 2007 New York Times best seller.</p>
 <p>Molly Peacock is general editor of The Best Canadian Poetry in English. Her most recent collection of poetry is The Second Blush.</p>
 <p>The symposium organisers welcome papers on any aspect of veterinary medicine and the literary arts\, including\:<br />
 - Themes within the healing professions<br />
 - The use of fiction\, essays and poetry in medicine and the healing professions<br />
 - Future directions for literature in veterinary medicine<br />
 - To enrich curricular and extracurricular veterinary medical education and practice.</p>
 <p>Call for Papers Proposal Deadline is February 1st\, 2010</p>
 <p>Preference will be given to papers and posters focusing on the subject themes\, and the interconnections between veterinary medicine and literature. Podium presentations should be 15 minutes in length. Several abstracts can be submitted by the same author\, but priority will be given to accommodate all participants.</p>
