The Veterinary School of Lyon has a characteristic that will distinguish it forever from all the others: it is the longest since the first world created by Claude Bourgelat in 1761 by Louis XV, who granted him the title of Royal School. School of Lyon and Alfort, also built by the founder of the Veterinary Art four years later went throughout the late seventeenth century former students who in turn did build Similar Schools in all European countries. In the nineteenth century, the history of the School of Lyon was marked by big names who were the pioneers of modern veterinary science: Chauveau, Arloing, Galtier.
