WVA Information: World Veterinary Day in Kenya

 The Kenya Veterinary Association is a professional membership organisation for all veterinarians in Kenya in both public and private sectors registered as veterinary surgeons under kenyan laws and we are founded on several objectives thus:
-safeguarding/guaranteeing animal health and welfare
-safeguarding welfare of its members
-maitaining the dignity of the veterinary profession
-continous veterinary education
-Local and international exchange of veterinary information
In line with the stated kva objectives and and the WVA theme of celebrating the diversity of the veterinary profession we shall carry out the following activities:
a)22nd april 2008 Tuesday in Bungoma district we shall conduct a national field day focussing on mainly livestock management where we shall vaccinate domestic animals against preventable diseases, train farmers on herd health good practices, hold public barazas with the government and political leadership on the role of the veterinarians in economic development in Kenya
b)wednesday 23/4/08 to Friday 25/4/08 at Golf hotel kakamega we shall host a three day scientific conference on topical veterinary issues in kenya ranging from veterinary private practice,the public health practice, animal welfare issues,veterinary pharmaceuticals,zoonoses,Re emerging diseases especially PPR and Avian influenza,Wildlife health management. We expect all our stakeholders who include veterinarians and technicians,animal resource industry players,university researchers,policy makers,politicians among ohers.
c)Ultimate world veterinary day celebrations at Lugari where we shall host 1000 veterinarians and technicians,10,000 farmers and other stakeholders. We expect attend to 20,000 animals as demonstrations for vaccination, good animal management practices and a public education baraza with the policy makers, association leadership and political class. We also intend to run a newspaper publicity for the events.
