The Veterinary Council's mission is to protect the public interest by regulating the veterinary profession and by promoting and encouraging high professional standards through prudent implementation of the Veterinarians Act 2005. The Veterinary Council of New Zealand: manages the registration of veterinarians promotes and encourages high standards and conduct hears and determines complaints exercises disciplinary powers The Veterinary Council of New Zealand aims to assist: Overseas trained veterinarians find out how to get registered in New Zealand Currently registered veterinarians seek information or assistance Members of the public find out about standards for veterinarians in New Zealand and what to do if they have concerns about treatment.
